Subject: Greek drivers and pedestrians
Question: How are Greek drivers and how do they behave to pedestrians in Athens?
Answer:
Generally be careful when driving and crossing the streets here in Athens where a stop sign really means slow down and look and not stop for pedestrians.

Athenian pedestrians should look left, right and left and right again before crossing the street!

Many people leave Athens on holidays resulting in many traffic fatalities. Greece seems to have the second worst drivers in Europe after Portugal in terms of the road conditions and car accidents. Greek drivers are driving very fast most of the times and are very proud of their car (most of the times older than average!).

Be careful here!
