Subject: Real Estate Taxes
Question: Can you please tell me if there have been any changes made concerning real estate tax?
Answer:
Yes there have indeed been significant changes made which have come o force as of 1.1.2006. The most significant change was the introduction of Value Added Tax at a rate of 19% in sales of new construction and the aboliyion, for some properties, of the transfer tax. Additionally, the capital gains tax was reintroduced, while as from 1.1.2006 a transaction fee was introduced. The new law also raised the tax-free limits for purchase of the first residence and introduced significant changes to the tax rates for real estae inheritance and donations as well as parental gifts.
